With the holiday season finally here, many businesses will be sitting tight and hoping this season will bring the business they urgently need. Business Pages Tenerife visits many of the islands local businesses on a daily basis. We have seen first hand the difficult times some sectors are facing. Declining visitors to the island can have a dramatic knock on effect through many businesses. Relying on tourism is a real gamble at present, especially with the credit crunch now really hitting the UK and close neighbours. Rising fuel costs are just adding to the already overstretch belt of many, the thought of taking off to a warmer climate, a mere daydream for most.
But its not all doom and gloom, we live on an island with many residents still looking for valuable services, products for sale, and in general still ready to spend. This crunch should be teaching us how to offer and make business with the people who live here.
The Business Pages Directory is aimed at the residential markets first, offering the consumers of Tenerife the ultimate Business Directory for the island. Your listings in the directory can be an extremely powerful tool in marketing your business for a whole year. Single lineage listings are free of charge, but its up to you to check and confirm your details. Simply log onto the website www.bptenerife.com, and register your business. Our admin team will ensure you are in the next printed edition of the directory 2008/2009.

I think and hope we may have turned a corner here, when we will feel the effect in Tenerife is another matter as we do tend to rely on the tourist.
The price of a barrel of oil went to 114 dollars, it has being dropping steadly since it hit 147 dollars some three weeks ago. At the pumps in Tenerife only an 8 cents or so drop has being seen hopefully more to come.
The dollar has hit an eight month high against the euro which is another plus for us all, as a strong dollar, seems to benefit the world.
And indications are the the Fed in the US will soon raise interest rates and the ECB will have to lower theirs, some say .75 by January. Which is good for mortgage holders
All the banks around the world have posted losses, I think just so they can clear out all bad debts, now is a good time with shareholders receptive to bad news, due to the globe crisis.
So have we hit the bottom? Are things on the up?
Well for Tenerife, I think it maybe a bit longer before we feel the full benefit, and as rightly said in the above articule by Business Pages Tenerife, it is the resident market we need to focus on first. We can help each other out here. Tenerife's tourist numbers will improve but a drop in oil price, improvement in the dollar is not enough for everyone to go splashing on holidays right away.
So focusing on the residential market in Tenerife for your bread and butter and the Tenerife tourist market can be the jam inside.
